In the citizens' meeting of Schwindkirchen, the citizens attached great importance to the designation of a building area and flood protection.

Schwindkirchen – The last part of the village assembly trilogy was on the program on Monday evening.

Well over a hundred participants at the Gasthof Feckl "Neuwirt" in Schwindkirchen were interested in the statements made by Mayor Heinz Grundner and Klaus Steiner, Chairman of Stadtwerke Dorfen.

Later, District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfer joined them, who thanked the citizens for their voluntary commitment: "Not a matter of course."

The World Cup in Qatar does not seem to be very exciting when so many people are sitting here, said Stadtwerk boss Steiner.

Just a few days ago, the public utilities increased the price of electricity: "I have an escape car outside with the engine running - you never know how it will turn out," he joked.

Steiner also spoke to the Schwindkircheners about the energy transition.

“The town of Dorfen is increasingly becoming an exporter of regenerative energies.

"We have many photovoltaic systems in the country - the electricity flows into the city." He certainly sees the balancing act "arable land versus electricity production".

Electricity must remain affordable so that society is not divided: "Energy prices are an issue that has been causing existential fears among many customers for months."

More than 2,000 refugees are now living in the Erding district, half of them from Ukraine.

Especially now that buses with up to 50 refugees arrive in Erding every week, more living space is needed than ever, said Bayerstorfer.

"Dorfen is exemplary," said the district administrator, also referring to the care and family base in Dorfen: "Everyone now comes into contact with the topic of care, whether in the family or among friends.

Here the relatives find support on site.”

After almost three hours of presentations, Grundner opened the question and answer session.

"The flood protection measures and the designation of the building areas are the issues that we submitted to the city administration in advance by email.

That's something that's burning under our nails, so we'd like to know the current status," said Alfred Mayerhofer from the Schwindkirchen initiative in advance when asked.

After all, many young families want to build in Schwindkirchen.

The property negotiations have become more concrete, the Schwindkirchen building area has now been outlined, explained Grundner: "We are in the initial planning phase." Finished in 2023, that's sporty, but doable was postponed: "It's not going so fast there either."

The municipal concept for flash flood risk management is ready, a heavy rain map was also presented, Grundner brought the audience up to date. Protecting Schwindkirchen from the Görgenbach has priority.

"There is a need for action more quickly here" - the planning is becoming more concrete, also with the motorway directorate, after all the problems in Schwindkirchen were triggered by the A 94.

Barbara Hollweg, parents' council at the elementary school in Schwindkirchen, spoke up.

54 students go to class here: “Since headmistress Gisela Steinberger left, there are only two teachers at the school.

What if one of them is sick?” she complained.

She is afraid that the school location will not be preserved.

Grundner is also concerned about the number of students: "But it is our political goal to keep the school location."
