After hate mail: homosexual hairdresser from Nuremberg does not want to be intimidated and continues to seek public attention.

"I'm not going to let my life be destroyed."

Nuremberg – Marcel Schneider is normally at home as a “celebrity hairdresser” on the red carpets in Franconia.

Schneider recently made headlines as a victim of hate mail.

The last sender ranted about kidnapping plans.

Fortunately, the author of the threatening letters has since been caught by the police.

All in all, Schneider, who openly admits his homosexuality, has often found malicious letters in the mailbox.

"It says absolutely disgusting things," says Schneider, suddenly becoming very serious.

"I don't put up with it." That's why he was ready to talk about the intimidation attempts.

"It cannot be that people can afford everything." After all, his dignity is at stake.

And according to the Basic Law, it is inviolable.

"I'm not a victim.

And I'm not a scaredy-cat either.

"It does something to you.

It doesn't bounce off that easily.” In the evenings, for example, he no longer goes into the woods alone with the dog.

Neither a coward nor a victim: the threatening letters do not leave Marcel Schneider indifferent.

After receiving threatening letters, Schneider is back on the red carpet

However, Schneider deliberately does not want to miss out on public appearances.

"I'm not going to let my life be destroyed," says Marcel Schneider from Nuremberg confidently.

He recently walked the red carpet with his husband at the Entrepreneur's Ball in Nuremberg.

"We were one of the first homosexual couples to officially get married in Franconia."

At that time, the tabloid newspapers ran rows of title stories with headlines like "Celebrity hairdresser marries local politician," says Schneider, pulling his wedding ring off his finger.

"Elias, please take a quick look for me to see exactly when we got married," says Schneider, laughingly handing the ring to his employee.

“We have often forgotten our wedding anniversary,” admits Schneider.

Things like that are probably unavoidable when two men say yes.

Four eyes see more than two: employee Elias deciphers the wedding date on the wedding ring, to Marcel Schneider's delight.

Schneider is nominated as a candidate for the state elections

Meanwhile, the young employee has deciphered the date on the ring.

In 2009, the hairdresser tied the knot with the local politician, who was almost two decades his senior.

"Many of our heterosexual friends are now divorced," says Schneider.

"In December we will be together for 30 years." Through his husband, Schneider also joined the SPD in 2015.

"I'm a political late bloomer."

Shortly after joining the Social Democrats, Schneider was nominated directly as a candidate for the state elections.

"But I didn't stand a chance on my last place on the list in 2018." Nevertheless, he was happy about the many votes.

Schneider currently sits on the district council for the SPD.

That's probably why the State Criminal Police Office was also interested in the threatening letters to the mandate holder.

Christmas market: Marcel Schneider as Santa Claus at the "Sternstunden" stand

After all the trouble, Schneider seems to have regained his lust for life long ago.

Finally, with the Christkindlesmarkt, the festival of festivals in Nuremberg is just around the corner.

And Schneider probably wouldn't be Schneider if he didn't use the Advent season for a charitable purpose.

The hairdresser, who has not only won trophies in stylist competitions but also won first prize at the “Perfect Dinner” with a crispy beer scoop as a specialty from Nuremberg, wants to come to Franconia in a Santa Claus costume on December 6th at the Christmas market for the "Sternstunden" charity campaign diligently collect donations.

Because the world-famous Christmas market around the beautiful fountain on Nuremberg's main market had to collapse last year, Schneider quickly grabbed the scissors in the salon in Nuremberg's Altenfurt district and collected an impressive 3,300 euros according to the motto "haircut for a donation".

Back then, the tabloids probably shone again with headlines like "Celebrity hairdresser collects donations".

He actually couldn't stand the supposedly deferential name of the celebrity hairdresser at all.

"Everyone is welcome here"

"Normal customers also come to me," says Schneider, and, as if on cue, greets two customers who obviously only know red carpets from hearsay and just want a great hairstyle.

Sometimes regular customers strut into the opulent shop with the lifelike rainbow pony in the corner and the large photo wallpaper of the Brandenburg Gate on the wall and put 25 very large bills out of their handbag on the table to support his many charity campaigns for children or animals in need .

"Everyone is welcome here," says Marcel and pulls out the silver scissors to say goodbye.

The next hair is waiting for a new cut.
