The 18-tonner registered in Lithuania had significant brake defects and was absolutely unfit to drive.
The driver's license and the truck's license plates were seized.

Around 1 p.m., truck experts noticed the vehicle during traffic surveillance in Langenberg.
The officers then stopped the dilapidated truck. During the check, the police officers found that the 18-ton truck loaded with bentonite had rusted through extensively.
The truck also lost a lot of oil.
The driver of the truck, a 41-year-old man, had to take his truck to a local inspection company.

Police discover numerous defects in rusty trucks
During the inspection, 29 defects, some of which were dangerous and significant, were found on the truck.
A brake cylinder had been intentionally disconnected.
The compressed air lines were "sealed" with commercially available screws.
As a result, the brakes on the rear axle of the 18-ton truck were almost ineffective.
The parking brake was also defective and some load-bearing parts of the truck were completely rusted through.
The list of defects was completed by the considerable loss of oil.
The police described the truck as a "rolling time bomb".

The consequences for the 41-year-old driver are serious.
The police confiscated the number plates of his truck and had it shut down until further notice.
The driver's license was also confiscated.
In addition, he and the 32-year-old vehicle owner have to pay a fine.
