The free workshop on Diwani calligraphy this evening provided an opportunity for scholars and those interested to learn about the basics and history of this ancient calligraphy, as part of the activities of the 3 Festival of Love of Pen, which is held by the House of Arabic Calligraphy and Arts Association in cooperation with the Directorate of Culture of Damascus at the Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh.
The workshop, which was supervised by the calligrapher Adham Al-Jaafari, included introducing the old Diwani calligraphy schools throughout history with a practical application of the stages of completing the calligraphy painting from draft to inking, in addition to opening the door for dialogue between the supervisor and students and answering their questions and inquiries.
About the workshop, the calligrapher Al-Jaafari said in a statement to SANA: The workshops come within the activities of the “Love of a Pen” festival to provide students, scholars and those interested with the knowledge and technical basis for various types of Arabic calligraphy arts, indicating that he sensed a great thirst among young students to acquire knowledge and techniques related to the art of Diwani calligraphy, which is promising. With the birth of a creative generation in this distinguished field.
It is noteworthy that an exhibition of students' works will be held next Tuesday in the Exhibition Hall of the Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh, and it will include the products of the workshops held during the festival.
