"Belt and Road" commissioner Zheng Weiyuan will be transferred to the director of the Beijing Office of the Special Administrative Region Government on December 8, replacing Leung Chi-jen who will start his pre-retirement leave.
Zheng Weiyuan has worked in many departments, including the Singapore Economic and Trade Office and the Guangdong Office. From July 2018 to August 2019, he served as the Deputy Secretary-General of the Education Bureau, and from August 2019 to December 2021, he served as the Director of the Government Information Service , and later served as the "Belt and Road" Commissioner.
The Secretary for the Civil Service, Michelle Yeung, said: "Mr Cheng is a senior administrative officer with excellent leadership and management skills. I am confident that he will be able to provide professional and efficient services to the public in his new position."
