Two police officers were given a twelve-month suspended prison sentence on Thursday November 24 in Lyon for violence against a young man who had his teeth broken during a demonstration in December 2019 against the pension reform.
In its deliberation, the Lyon Criminal Court went beyond the requisitions of the prosecution during the hearing on September 22 last - ten months suspended - considering that the defendants had committed "
a personal fault
" in the context of a "
unique scene of violence
".
"It feels good"
“
I am very happy with the decision finding them guilty.
It feels good.
I have been questioned for two and a half years, no one believes me when I speak.
This time the decision has been made.
I can only congratulate myself on this
, ”said Arthur Naciri, 26, in front of the press, at the end of the hearing.
"
The judges, we don't abuse them, we can't tell them anything when it's filmed, when we're outdoors, when we're at Place Bellecour, when there's a young man with a bloody mouth
“, reacted alongside his lawyer Me Thomas Fourrey, welcoming “
a strong decision
”.

“
There, we have acts that are committed by one and the other and both are judged in the same boat.
It is not possible.
It is a decision which is very badly rendered
, ”said the council of police officers, who were accompanied at the hearing on Thursday by around fifteen colleagues.
Nine less teeth
The defendants, who did not acknowledge the alleged facts, will also have to pay as an advance the sum of 19,646 euros for moral and bodily injury, the plaintiff having had 21 days of ITT and thousands of euros of dental costs.
They were accused of having beaten the complainant on December 10, 2019 at Place Bellecour in Lyon, during a demonstration against the pension reform.
It was after the publication in the press of photos and videos taken by witnesses showing Arthur Naciri with a bloody mouth, missing nine teeth, that the Lyon public prosecutor's office opened an investigation and that the General Inspectorate of the National Police ( IGPN) had been entered.
The trial had been postponed four times.
