At the request of many citizens, the city of Erding now also offers a new form of burial in Langengeisling: an urn stele with space for 16 burial chambers.

Erding/Langengeisling – The final rest is changing: In order to accommodate new forms of burial, there is now also an urn stele in the Langengeisling cemetery.

It should be released for occupancy from January, explained Andrea Hoffmann, deputy head of the registry office, to the city councilors on Tuesday evening in the administration and finance committee.

In order to formally include this innovation, a occupancy plan, a new cemetery and a new fee statute were issued.

The city councilors did not have much need for discussion.

Hoffmann explained that the 16 burial chambers in the urn stele are a response to a wish from the citizens of Langengeisling and the increased need for urn niche graves.

These are characterized in particular by the fact that no grave maintenance is required.

The light gray square urn stele has four sides.

Each offers space for four burial chambers, in which two urns can be buried.

The work, which the municipal building yard has taken on, is almost complete.

The stele stands.

According to Hoffmann, the planting work should be completed by the end of November.

An urn niche grave will cost 77 euros per year in the future, without a grave slab.

A one-off fee of 129 euros is added for this.

The city provides the tombstones.

"They are locked with a special lock," says Hoffmann.

There are precise specifications for the engraving in order to ensure a uniform image.

However, oval porcelain images of the deceased of a certain size are permitted.

The setting up of floral decorations and grave lights is also permitted.

Other decorative items are not allowed.

Rainer Mehringer (Free Voters) wanted to know what happens to the urns after the 15-year rest period if the relatives waive their right to use them.

Hoffmann explained that only non-decomposable urns are allowed in steles.

These would have to be filled first and then buried in a grave in a collective burial.

This happens in Altenerding, for example, every six months.
