The Chinese Sun Exploration Satellite transmitted its first image of the sun since it was sent into space last October.

Xinhua news agency quoted an expert at the Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as saying: “The Advanced Space Solar Observatory (ASOS), which is known in Chinese as “Quafu 1,” transmitted a hard X-ray image of solar flares.

He added: “The image was taken by a hard X-ray imaging device on board the HXA satellite, although it is still in the testing period, but the imaging performance was excellent, allowing effective identification of the details of solar flares and the fine structure of the sun.

Quavo 1 was launched on a Long March 2D carrier rocket on October 9 from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.
