There is a lack of space and there is a lack of staff: Childcare is also a hot topic in the city of Tegernsee, and this applies to both the crèche and kindergarten areas.

The Evangelical parish and the city have now set up two containers on the premises of the Evangelical rectory to alleviate the problem.

Tegernsee - 75 children in three groups are currently being cared for in the St. Quirinus Catholic Kindergarten on Prinz-Karl-Allee.

"More is not possible," regrets Barbara Scheckenbach, head of the Catholic day-care center network, "but there would be a need for another group with 25 children." About as many had to be turned away this year.

The fact that the Protestant church has now acted together with the city should not be in competition with the Catholic institution, said Mayor Johannes Hagn at the citizens' meeting when questions about childcare were discussed.

"The containers help to alleviate the problem," says Pastor Martin Weber, who thanks the city and other parties involved for the quick action.

The containers are paid for from the city budget, the new group is operated by the Protestant parish of Tegernsee-Rottach-Egern-Kreuth. It currently operates eight facilities across the valley in a network and looks after 300 children in crèches, after-school care centers and the open all-day school with around 50 employees Tegernsee.

"This is a great advantage, especially for personnel planning, since the staff can be deployed flexibly," emphasizes Pastor Weber.

He already has the staff for the container group, “and we are very happy about that”.

The situation is of course also tense here and the effort is enormous, because a lot of organization has to run in the background.

He therefore thanks his entire team, which is highly committed, "so that we can offer this support to the families".

There was already an uncomplicated reaction when replacement rooms were needed during the renovation period at the Reisbergerhof crèche site.

Weber accommodated the two groups in the parish hall, and in the meantime they have all moved back into the Reisbergerhof.

"Container group" in Tegernsee - the first children are already there

For the kindergarten group - the first children are already there, everyone else will come around Christmas time - the parish hall will be used again.

"The costs can be kept much lower because you can save on container modules," says Weber.

This is an enormous limitation for church activities, "but in a situation like this, everyone just has to stick together."

Tegernsee Evangelical Church: Planning for a new parish center is underway

Meanwhile, the planning for a completely new parish center is underway.

The building from the 1950s is to be demolished and replaced by a new building.

The number of crèche places could then be doubled.

"The construction plans are currently being coordinated with the regional church," reports Weber.

And the conversion of the Emmaus Church in Kreuth for a crèche group with twelve children is in the coordination phase with the district office.

Weber wants to tackle the next planning and financing steps this year.
