A 30-year-old woman died in an apartment in the Johannesviertel on Thursday afternoon.

The police, who are now investigating a homicide, were able to quickly arrest a 25-year-old suspect.

Darmstadt - A woman was killed in an apartment in Darmstadt's Johannesviertel on Thursday afternoon.

According to a joint statement from the Darmstadt public prosecutor's office and the police headquarters in southern Hesse, the 30-year-old was found around 3.45 p.m. with serious injuries in the apartment.

The woman died despite the rescue service's immediate resuscitation attempts.

The public prosecutor's office and the police then initiated investigations on suspicion of a homicide, reports fr.de.

As part of a search, the public prosecutor's office and the police said on Thursday evening that a 25-year-old suspect had been arrested not far from the scene of the crime.

A police spokesman said on request that no shots were fired during the arrest.

The police spokesman initially did not want to say whether a weapon was found on the suspect.

The Johannesviertel in Darmstadt lays around the evangelical Johanneskirche.

The Martin-Luther-King-Ring, which is located in the north of Darmstadt's city center and borders on the Bürgerpark, had to be closed to traffic at times due to the police's work to secure evidence.

The investigators initially did not want to provide any further information about the background and the circumstances of the crime.
