Helal pointed out the importance of exploring possible opportunities for cooperation with Chile, which could establish and strengthen important bilateral relations in the future, providing an overview of the importance of the port of Latakia in the region, and its ability to accommodate various ships, pointing at the same time to the difficulties and challenges, as a result of the unilateral coercive measures imposed. on Syria.

For his part, Brickell expressed his country's aspiration to explore possible opportunities for cooperation with Syria, including with the province of Latakia to establish a twinning agreement between the ports of Latakia and Valparaiso in Chile, and on customs tariffs to encourage the business sector to trade exchange.

In addition, the President of Tishreen University, Dr. Bassam Hassan, discussed with Brickell ways of scientific cooperation between the university and Chilean universities in the coming period.

During the meeting, Hassan gave a presentation on the reality of the university, its specializations, and the scientific programs it implements, despite the circumstances of the war on Syria during the last period.

Hassan touched on the suffering of Tishreen University from the issue of developing its laboratories, where self-reliance is done in this field, which contributed to transforming a lot of suffering into many research opportunities that can be used in the reconstruction phase, expressing Tishreen University's willingness to cooperate with its Chilean counterparts to open new paths and horizons for exchange. Scientific and research.

In turn, Brikel expressed the aspiration of Chilean universities to enhance scientific and academic cooperation with Syrian universities for the common interest and to provide good and beneficial work for both parties, explaining that his visit to Lattakia precedes a tour of a delegation from the University of Chile next May, to sign bilateral agreements in the field of scientific research and student exchange. and experiences.

In Aleppo, Dr. Maher Karman, President of the University of Aleppo, met with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Chilean Embassy in Syria, and they discussed prospects for scientific cooperation between the University of Aleppo and its counterparts in Chile and ways to strengthen relations between the two sides, especially in the fields of medicine, engineering and informatics through the exchange of delegations and visits and knowledge of scientific progress in colleges and institutes. .

The President of the University of Aleppo gave a brief explanation about the development of the University of Aleppo in various disciplines since its establishment in 1958, through its 19 faculties and ten middle and higher institutes, and its role in providing society with graduates and qualified cadres to supply the market, especially in the reconstruction phase in Syria.

Karman welcomed the cooperation with universities in Chile, learning about their scientific experiences and technical progress, and the exchange of delegations and student missions, especially the higher education stages of postgraduate studies and doctoral dissertations in the medical and engineering fields, and communication and informatics technologies.

In turn, the Chilean Chargé d'Affaires stressed the importance of the University of Aleppo and the desire of universities in his country to enhance cooperation with it, through constant communication and preparation for a scientific mission visit to an advanced Chilean university to Syria, organizing joint meetings with its universities and discussing scientific cooperation with it.

He pointed out that there are eight well-known scientific centers in his country's universities, working in the fields of informatics and robotics, and that they can provide their expertise to the Syrian side in these fields.
