The construction of the boat hut for the Kochler water rescue service will cost around 320,000 euros.

The preparations are in full swing.

The volunteers are in dire need of donations.

Kochel am See

– A few days ago, the Kochler municipal council approved the new construction, and the documents are now in the district office.

"We hope things will progress quickly there," says Heinz Eger.

All threads come together with the head of the district water patrol in consultation with the Kochler local group.

The hut of the Kochler water rescue service has been dilapidated for a long time and even had to be closed in the summer of 2021 (we reported).

Now it is provisionally secured, but the condition is not a permanent solution.

According to Eger, the cost of the new construction is 320,000 euros.

"We fear it could get even more expensive if the costs in the construction industry continue to rise." The most expensive thing is definitely the foundation in the water, says Eger.

"There are not so many providers for such work." The volunteers are happy

that they have been promised a subsidy of a good 100,000 euros from the "Leader" funding program, but they do not yet have the information in writing.

"We have to pre-finance everything else through the district association."

The Kochler local group will have to contribute 170,000 euros.

"The volunteers are extremely active," says Eger, praising the commitment and citing actions at the shore market on Kochelsee, participation in the upcoming Advent market and a specially offered dance course as examples.

“They have already asked many companies for support.

We are grateful for every euro.”

When it comes to the new building, they also want to do some of the work themselves.

"But not everything will work, there are occupational safety regulations." The new building will be functional.

The small hut is extended by a treatment and guard room.

So far it is not even possible to take care of a patient in the hut while waiting for the emergency services.

"When the car from Kochel is in use, others have a long way to go to Kochel," says Eger.

In addition, the so-called slipway will be renewed.

It is necessary so that the boat can be put in the water all year round.

It must be suitable for both the water level and the now new, larger boat.

It's very cramped in the hut at the moment.

"We really urgently need to build a new one because we're literally getting wet," says Eger.

A lot is also done by the volunteer water rescuers themselves

A boathouse on the lake is essential for lifeguard work.

In the new “blue light center” that the municipality is creating for water and mountain rescue (we reported), there is space for the rescue vehicle of the SEG (Schnelle Einsatzgruppe), which has so far been in a tent.

There are also rooms where you can wash and dry clothes, a material store and a training room.

"Both sites are home to the lifeguards," says Eger.

The fact that both are now in the making brings the local group “a new boost”.

The Kochler water rescuers have a very active youth work, there are even waiting lists.

As Hubert Heimisch, the Technical Manager, reports, there were 46 assignments, 790 hours of service and 814 work assignments this year.

A badge was discarded 73 times (including “Bayern schwimmt”) and there were 712 advanced training courses.

According to director Philipp Schubart, the SEG, which operates nationwide, had five missions.
