Foreign Students from Ukraine: Uncertain Future

2022-11-24T13:02:28.766Z

Why are foreign students worried about their future? What makes a new generation of artists different? What is the right way to save? And what do you have to be able to do as a wedding speaker? The four texts of the week on studying and starting a career.

It is exactly nine months since the start of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine.

Millions of people have now found protection in Germany, and some young Ukrainians are studying at German universities.

But before the war began, around 76,500 foreign students were also living in Ukraine.

Kharkiv, Kyiv and Uschgorod - for them these were the alternatives to Maastricht and Bristol.

Initially, EU states, including Germany, planned to grant them the same rights as Ukrainians.

But then things turned out differently.

In the text of the week by Anna-Theresa Bachmann and Steffen Lüdke, two students from third countries tell what happened when they were hoping for a place at university in Germany.

For her, the initially promising idea of continuing her studies in the EU has turned into a nightmare.
