Include the right to abortion in the Constitution: what it would change for women

The idea had germinated last June after the decline of the right to abortion in the United States. The deputies validated this Thursday in the first reading


“The law guarantees the effectiveness and equal access to the right to voluntary termination of pregnancy.

This sentence, the majority of deputies, as they voted on Thursday, November 24 (337 votes for, 32 votes against), wish to see it enshrined in the French Constitution, the highest legal standard in our country.

The objective: to protect women from challenges to the right to abortion such as those observed recently in the United States.
