Memmingen - The case had caused a national sensation a year ago and the start of the trial before the Memmingen District Court in the summer of this year was also characterized by great interest from viewers and the media.

Denis G. (26) and Angelina A. (16) were accused of killing 16-year-old Hannah W. south of Memmingen Airport in November 2021.

The verdict was pronounced today: The accused G. was sentenced to life imprisonment for joint treacherous murder.

The defendant was sentenced to nine years and six months in prison.

Juvenile criminal law was applied to her, which provides for a maximum sentence of ten years.

Anger and revenge over the failed friendship with Hannah W. were the main triggers for the crime for the accused.

At 8:30 a.m., the presiding judge Thomas Hörmann announced the judgment of the youth chamber in the proceedings against 26-year-old Denis G. and 16-year-old Angelina A. and justified it for almost an hour and a half.

After 23 days of hearings and the questioning of numerous witnesses and experts, the chamber has come to the conclusion that the two accused are guilty of joint murder.

In addition, the accused Denis G. was placed in a rehabilitation center because of his consumption of narcotics.

In addition, he must pay the parents of the dead a compensation of 50,000 euros.

In order to convince the court, which in its reasoning referred in detail to the background relevant to the assessment of the facts,

i.e. the personalities of the victim and the accused and their relationships with one another, the accused Angelina A. had a motive of revenge and anger, with the accused the motive of the accused was primarily to help.

According to the conviction of the court, this then led to the crime plan of the accused, which the two then implemented together.

According to the court, the defendant admitted to the crime, but presented it as a rash act.

The defendant admitted her presence but denied any involvement in the crime.

The verdict was announced in a closed session. At the beginning of the second day of the trial (September 15), spectators and media representatives were excluded from the remainder of the trial to protect the accused.

The verdict is not yet legally binding.

The Federal Court of Justice would have to decide on an appeal, but no new evidence would then be taken.
