Opinion Shabbat Hebron: The Pogrom That Wasn't Israel today

2022-11-24T09:44:07.167Z

How many hooligans in Hebron - who, by the way, didn't seriously injure and certainly didn't kill anyone, thank God - are equal in the eyes of anti-Israel propagandists to those who massacred and murdered 67 Jews in cold blood in the 1975 riots • Where is the proportion?

Last Shabbat we commemorated the "Life of Sarah" case in Hebron.

Shabbat Chai Sarah is Hebron's holiday.

In this Shabbat's parsha of the week, we read in the Torah about the purchase of Sde Machpelah by Abraham our father in order to bury his wife, Sarah.

More than 40 thousand people came to the city of the fathers and mothers to remember, rejoice and celebrate.

In those days, at this time: thanks to our independence and return to Hebron, we get to celebrate this religious-historical event in the very square of Macpela, with great crowds and splendor.

Tens of thousands of celebrants flood the roads with blessed traffic jams, paint the streets of the city of the ancestors in blue and white and strengthen the spirit of the residents of the Jewish settlement in Hebron, those hundreds who represent hundreds of thousands.

In this celebration, as in many celebrations, not everything is perfect.

Every year, among the tens of thousands of visitors and revelers there is also a riotous edge.

He doesn't foresee everything, but he certainly seriously detracts from this authentic celebration.

These fringe groups are also a headache for the organizers of the event, and every year they puzzle over how to better control fringe youth or the phenomena of drinking and vandalism.

You don't have to be a leftist or a great humanist to denounce the phenomena and their perpetrators.

This year there were obscene phenomena, both in front of Arabs and in front of the IDF soldiers themselves, including a violent attack on a female soldier. The female soldier, by the way, is herself a resident of the Jewish settlement in Hebron.

But oh, the proportion.

For days, extreme left-wing activists and journalists echoed their words about the Jewish "pogrom" in the Arabs of Hebron.

With an embarrassing repertoire of absurd and disturbing historical comparisons, they put the riots of 1955 at stake - and did not stop until they reached Kristallnacht. Yes, yes. A few hooligans in Hebron - who, by the way, did not seriously injure and certainly did not kill anyone, thank God - equal In their eyes, to those who massacred and murdered 67 Jews in cold blood in the 1975 riots, or to Nazi Germans in the late 1930s in Germany.

Hebron, like Hebron, is a complex city.

It is not for nothing that Hebron has become a pilgrimage site for extreme left-wing organizations, who come with the aim of defaming Israel.

In Hebron, unlike all the other cities in Judea and Samaria, there is a majority of Arab residents - but also a small and solid Jewish settlement.

By the way, it did not start in 1967, but hundreds of years earlier.

The renewed settlement in Hebron, the one after the Six Day War, is a renewal of the Jewish settlement that was cut off in blood in the 1929 riots. King David's city cannot be orphaned of Jews, even if this requires special security arrangements.

Those who know the full picture of Hebron know that most of the city is closed to Jews, "Juden Rein".

Those who know the full picture of Hebron know that in the street and half where Jews live, there are hundreds of terrorist attacks carried out by the Arabs.

Those who want to know and not close their eyes, will find that every week the Arabs attack the IDF soldiers who protect the Jewish minority there with burning tires, explosive charges, stones, Molotov cocktails and everything else.

But for those anti-Israel propagandists, a few incidents of violent Jews are a "pogrom".

In their eyes, three murdered in the attack in Ariel is not a pogrom;

Infernal attacks in Jerusalem - not a pogrom;

Attacks of stones and Molotov cocktails on Jewish cars - not a pogrom;

Stabbing attacks on a weekly basis - not a pogrom.

The pogrom they created in their fevered minds they make sure to translate into every possible language, and publish under every fresh tree to continue to smear the smell of Israel.

It's so easy: there are wolves out there just waiting for these goods, and these give them the requested liter of anti-Israel meat, which of course elevates them to the rank of qualified human rights fighter.

An industry of lies.

They will continue to bark, the caravan will continue to pass and plant another root and another house, a dunam and a goat, another Sarah's life and another celebration.

Return to Zion.
