After a long standstill, Gilching wants to push the development of the "Glatze" again.

The municipal council made changes to the original plans – including for more multi-storey housing.

Gilching

– If the subject of “baldness” is on the agenda in Gilching's municipal council, the audience has long since crowded the spectator seats.

Positive signals have been sent too often, but not much has happened so far.

Now the once award-winning plan is to be rolled out again.

As reported, an urban development ideas competition was held in autumn 2005 to develop the 15-hectare agricultural area between Starnberger Weg and Karolinger Straße.

The winner at the time was architect Marc Rommel, whose plans were to be implemented as quickly as possible.

One of the aims was to create living space for around 2,000 people.

For more than a decade, planning was based on this concept, workshops and various events took place as part of citizen participation and council decisions were made.

By the end of 2021 it became known that the architect had withdrawn and, according to Mayor Manfred Walter, he had also no longer responded to several letters.

Good advice was expensive there.

Ultimately, the council decided

Taking into account the statements received up to that point as well as current reports, “we considered what is necessary from today's perspective.

The planning goals have expanded,” said Mayor Manfred Walter at the meeting on Tuesday.

Among other things, it is now planned to enlarge the apartment buildings.

For example, the previously three-storey buildings are to be increased to four storeys and an additional recessed terrace level to up to five storeys.

There are also plans to reduce the gardens around the terraced houses.

The so-called "townhouses" as single-family homes were completely eliminated in favor of areas for apartment buildings.

Harald Schwab (CSU) welcomed the additional living space, but warned that the additional traffic "will never, ever be coped with".

A traffic concept is the next step, said Mayor Walter.

"We're going step by step, but it's going to be a long way." Oliver Fiegert (BfG) found that the original planning had been "completely watered down".

"It wasn't watered down, it was improved," countered Martin Fink (CSU).

Ultimately, the suggestions were approved and the order was given to adapt the "Glatze" development plan.
