On video: Rabbi Shai Tahan (PR)
"Black Friday" is upon us or known as Black Friday.
Millions of Americans are expected to participate in a huge shopping celebration following price cuts on this day, on the occasion of the closing of the "Thanksgiving holiday" celebrated across the US.
The frenzy surrounding shopping on this day and in general - has already crossed the borders of the US.
People buy everything, even if they don't need the purchased item.
Is there a sale?
Are buying.
Rabbi Shai Tahan, head of Kollel Sha'are Ezra and head of the Arzi HaLebanon teaching house in his weekly column, makes an amazing connection between Black Friday and the Shavuot Parshath - a Torah Parshath in which the Torah tells us how Jacob acquired the firstfruits through his evil deeds for Nazid Dashim.
Jacob came thoughtful and calm and Esau tired and obsessive.
And from this you can learn how to approach shopping.
Don't buy everything, but only what you need and in a calculated way.
Watch the full words of Rabbi Tahan.
