Spain, "in good shape" after its inaugural festival against Costa Rica (7-0), approaches "confidently" the clash against Germany on Sunday, Spanish striker Marco Asensio said Thursday.

"

We are in good shape, we have clear ideas

," said the Real Madrid winger in a press conference, the day after the successful debut of Rojadu coach Luis Enrique.

What characterizes us best is that we are a team.

We are all pulling in the same direction

,” he added.

The Spaniards took part in a short recovery session on Thursday at their base camp at Qatar University, the day after their victory against the Costa Ricans, the biggest in the history of La Roja in the World Cup.

This World Cup is hotly contested, football is more and more balanced

,” nevertheless warned Asensio, calling for avoidance of overconfidence.

Yesterday's game (Wednesday) confirms to us that we must continue on this path, playing like this.

This allows us to be very confident for the future, hoping to continue like this.

But we are not going to be too confident because the coach (Luis Enrique) is not going to allow us to do that

,” he argued.

Germany, despite their surprise defeat against Japan on Wednesday (2-1), remains a formidable team, notes Asensio.

It's a solid selection with great players.

We know that we are going to face a very complicated match because they play good football, they are going to push us to our limits

,” he continued.

But "

we want to win and make sure we are in the eighth

“, he asserted, wishing to avoid having to play a last decisive match against Japan in this very tough Pool E.

Spain will enjoy a rest day on Friday before resuming training on Saturday, on the eve of the clash against Germany.

If successful, La Roja will be almost qualified for the next round and the Nationalmannschaft practically eliminated.
