In As-Suwayda Governorate, wheat crop cultivation operations for the current season have begun, according to a plan of 35,625 thousand hectares.
The Director of Agriculture in As-Suwayda, Eng. Ayham Hamid, told SANA reporter today that the plan to grow the wheat crop is distributed at 35,038 hectares, rainfed and 587 hectares irrigated, as the cultivation operations include successively the various regions of the governorate, and will continue during the next two months.
Hamed pointed out that the wheat seed requirements are secured through the branch of the General Corporation for Seed Multiplication, while diesel fuel is being provided for agricultural purposes based on the decision of the Sub-Committee on Fuels, according to the available quantities.
The areas cultivated with the wheat crop in As-Suwayda during the last season amounted to 34,461 hectares, while the production amounted to 3,840 tons only as a result of the influence of the cultivated areas on weather conditions.
