The Schleswig-Holstein state parliament has cleared the way for further debt of up to one billion euros.
MEPs on Thursday declared by a two-thirds majority that the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and its effects on the energy markets are an exceptional emergency situation, which allows for borrowing beyond the limits of the debt brake.
Kiel - The Ukraine emergency loan approved in April in the state parliament can thus increase from 400 million euros to a maximum of 1.4 billion euros.
CDU faction leader Tobias Koch and other speakers acknowledged that the black-green coalition and the opposition factions of SPD and SSW are pulling together on this issue.
