The Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi today (Thursday) ended his visit to the United States and returned to Israel. "In order to improve dealing with the regional challenges, in the coming period the joint activity with the Central Command (Middle East) of the United States Army will be significantly expanded," said Kochavi At the end of the visit. Yesterday, the Chief of Staff visited the Naval Forces Headquarters of the US Navy in Norfolk, Virginia. During the visit, Kochavi was accompanied by the Commander of the US Naval Forces Command, Admiral Daryl Caudle, and toured a nuclear submarine and a helicopter carrier, in order to deepen their operational capabilities. On Tuesday, Kochavi participated in a situation assessment operational at the headquarters of the United States Army's Central Command (CENTCOM) in Tampa, Florida. The Chief of Staff also held a working meeting with the Commander of CENTCOM, General Michael Kurilla.

Earlier this week, Kochavi received the American "Legion of Merit" decoration from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, General Mark Milley. The decoration was awarded to him in part due to the deepening of the strategic partnership between Israel and the United States. The decoration was awarded to the Chief of Staff on behalf of President United States Joe Biden during a guard of honor that took place today at the Fort Myer base in Washington.
"For his exceptional excellence in his service as Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces for the past four years, as part of his actions during his tenure as Chief of Staff, Kochavi exemplified the spirit of cooperation by deepening the strategic partnership between the United States and Israel," said the ceremony. "Kochavi established the Israel's position as a regional security leader, capable and operationally effective in the Middle East."
