Delek Motors, a BMW importer, this morning launched the new 7 Series in Israel, replacing the outgoing generation that has been marketed here for the past 7 years.

The seventh generation of the manufacturer's flagship is developed on a new platform that supports all drive configurations (diesel, plug-in and electric) and for the first time also includes the new design language that will accompany the new "GKL" models (Grand Klasse RT) which are the top models of the manufacturer, including the new X7 that will arrive here next year.

The new 7 Series is offered here with 2 external design packages to choose from (elegant or sporty), and unlike the previous generations, you can only purchase the new generation in its long version, which grows even more in dimensions (5.39 meters in length and 1.95 meters in width), with a height of 1.57 meters , it's even taller than some compact crossovers.

The company boasts that although the interior space has grown significantly, the model is more efficient and aerodynamic, with a smooth chassis that includes recessed door opening handles and a host of elements that have managed to reduce the drag coefficient to 0.24cd.

At the front of the vehicle you will find the famous "kidney grill" which continues to grow consistently (until when?), but this time it gets a unique LED lighting frame and next to it a daytime running light that includes sparkling crystal lights developed in collaboration with Swarovski.

The company actually chose to put the main headlights in a lower and hidden position and for the first time you can order the model in two-tone paint.

When entering the passenger compartment, dynamic "digital carpet lighting" is displayed on the sides of the vehicle, and as part of the innovations, the vehicle doors will also open or close with the push of a button so that you don't have to strain.

The environment of the driver and passengers presents an up-to-date interpretation of the "Shy Tech" design language that we already met in the electric iX, and the main thing is a cleaner design with a relative minority of switches and different crystal finishes to refine the luxurious atmosphere.

The "12.3" digital dashboard is connected to a "14.9" central screen, and these include full Hebrew support and a new OS8 operating system with smartphone-style operation, where all the vehicle's systems have been defined as apps with an interface that the manufacturer claims will be much more friendly and easy to use.

For the first time, the car will be offered with the option of cashmere fabric seats, and those who prefer the leather upholstery will also be able to find a greener option with new synthetic leather seats that look and feel exactly the same.

The overall package is complemented by extensive ambient lighting and luxury audio systems made by Bower&Wilkins, while the rear seat occupants (probably the most important people in the car) will enjoy plenty of space (a wheelbase that has grown to 321 cm), an illuminated panoramic glass roof, armchairs with a removable pedestal in style First class, and 5.5" touchscreens in the shape of a smart phone that are built into the rear doors and control more or less everything.

During the next year, an extensive entertainment package will also be offered that includes a 31" rear screen that can be removed from the roof of the vehicle.

With the start of marketing in Israel, only the fully electric i7 version will be offered, equipped with a pair of electric motors producing a combined power of 544 hp and dual drive, which will accelerate the vehicle from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds.

The driving range is 590-625 km according to the manufacturer's data and the battery also supports fast DC charging with a power of up to 195 kWh, which theoretically allows at least 170 km charging in just ten minutes.

These are joined by air suspensions and adaptive dampers, variable ratio steering, an option for rear steering and the promise of a quiet and smooth ride, but still with traditional BMW DNA according to the company, which guarantees the perfect driving experience.

In about six months, plug-in hybrid models equipped with 3.0-liter gasoline engines and a pair of electric motors, producing 490 hp in the 750e version, or 571 hp in the 760e version, will also join the offer, both with dual drive, 8-speed automatic transmission and acceleration to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds, alongside the possibility of driving on electricity alone up to 89 km (an improvement of more than 50% compared to the outgoing generation).

BMW 7 Series prices continue to climb and have been set at NIS 1.25 million for the i7 electric version, starting at NIS 990,000 for the 750e model and starting at NIS 1.05 million for the 760e model.

The importer does not provide a sales forecast, but states that he will be able to sell any vehicle he receives from the manufacturer in an era where demand exceeds supply.
