The opening of an exhibition of paintings and documentary photography of the intangible heritage in Abu Rummaneh Cultural Center

Photographs and expressive oil paintings adorned the walls of the Arab Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh in a documentary exhibition of handicrafts and folk costumes, inaugurated by the Directorate of Intangible Heritage today on the second day of the Syrian Culture Festival (Heritage and Creativity).

The exhibition included a variety of documentary paintings of three sections of the intangible heritage, which are expressive photos of the traditional folk costumes of the various Syrian geography, embodied by girls from all the governorates, and the second section is photos showing the most prominent traditional Syrian folk proverbs, and the third is abstract oil paintings documenting ancient handicrafts. .

In a statement to SANA, Director of the Intangible Heritage Directorate at the Ministry of Culture, Eng. Rola Aqili, explained that the aim of the exhibition is to revive the Syrian intangible heritage through documentary paintings from the archives of the Directorate, which always seeks to preserve the cultural heritage rich in artistic, craft and intellectual diversity, pointing out that the three sections participating in the exhibition are From the Directorate's archives. As for the oil paintings of handicrafts, they are drawn by students of the Adham Ismail Center of the Directorate.

Aqili indicated that traditional folk proverbs are among the types of intangible heritage that fall within the traditions and forms of oral expression, as well as all forms of ancient folklore stories and legends and the various Syrian dialects, according to the five UNESCO divisions of intangible heritage, and that each painting in the exhibition included a popular proverb and an expressive painting from the ancient Levant. .

(Heritage and Creativity) in its full meanings was manifested in the paintings of the exhibition that presented the ancient Syrian heritage colored with creative artistic imprints in (display and composition) to highlight the civilized face of Syria and its connection to the present, this is what the Director of the Cultural Center, Rabab Ahmed, indicated, pointing out that photography of the artworks displayed is a documentation The artist Ziad Zakari, and is considered one of the most important documentaries of intangible heritage and has a calendar launched by the Ministry of Tourism since the eighties and seventies.
