Lena Volkov told about the incident: "We saw the suspect running red, I took a picture of him and we thought of sending it to the police - that's why he killed Yuri" • A nurse at the hospital who worked with Yuri: "She came to work every day out of a sense of mission"

Yuri Volkov was murdered last night (Wednesday) in Holon, by a motorcyclist who is suspected of stabbing him and causing his death.

Yuri worked in Ichilov for many years.

Lena Volkov, Yuri's wife, said in great pain as she held their picture together: "Yesterday a man stabbed my husband. This person ran a red light and I felt that something was wrong with him, and I told Yuri that I might take a picture of him and send it to the police. It seemed that there was something wrong there. That's why that person in the end killed Yuri.

"I want to say a big thank you to everyone, thank you to the entire management of Ichilov for supporting us. Yuri worked wholeheartedly for sick people. Thank you to everyone."

Shira Peleg, the nurse in charge of the emergency room at the Ichilov Hospital, who worked together with Yuri, said: "Yuri has worked with us for 20 years at the hospital, and in recent years specifically in the emergency room. He was a good son, honest, fair, humble, diligent, who came to work with a sense of mission.

"A nursing worker is the worker closest to the patients, the person who bathes them, feeds them, changes their diapers, is a person who came with a sense of the sanctity of life, and found his death randomly on the street precisely by the person who is least interested in the sanctity of life. We come to the ward every day with the desire to save lives to strangers and others we don't know, and in one second someone takes them."

Vladimir Cherdnichenko, who worked with Yuri, said: "I have known and worked with Yuri for about 6-7 years, our last shift together was at the beginning of the week. He was a very modest person, not much to talk about his personal life, but over the years I was able Collect and learn about him that he was a native of the Commonwealth of Nations, who immigrated from Russia around the 2000s, after having previously served in the Russian army and was a non-commissioned officer or officer.

"Although he was quite a strong man physically, he had a gentle and calm soul, I don't remember him ever talking to a staff member or a patient. He loved humor, telling and hearing jokes, and traveling the world. Our work was hard and Sisyphean but he never complained or did anything about it Something heroic."
