They accuse a Latina of killing her baby by forcibly pressing her and suffocating her against her chest to breastfeed in California

A 29-year-old California mother has been charged with manslaughter in the death of one of her twins, who was knocked unconscious after she said she tried to force-feed her. 

Police received a 911 emergency call on November 4 that something had happened to two 8-month-old babies in a home in the city of San Jose.

Upon arriving at the scene, after 3 in the afternoon, the agents found the twins unconscious.

The agents tried to revive the baby and then the doctors gave her life support until she reached the hospital.

She but she was pronounced dead the next day in the intensive care ward.

Authorities did not release the baby's name, but court documents obtained by local channel KRON 4 indicate her name was Melani.

These judicial records also reveal the account of the mother and her suspect, Celina Juarez, about what would have happened.

The woman claims she was trying to breastfeed her babies, which she hadn't done for a while, and pushed the girl hard against her chest "without allowing her to move away for air."

The woman says that she did the same with the other baby: pressured her to suckle.

The woman says she thinks she waited about 20 minutes before going into the living room of the house and asking her mother for help.

Her brother, who had been away while this was happening, found the babies unconscious upon arriving at the home and called the police. 

The investigation was handled by homicide detectives and members of the Santa Clara County Child Death and Serious Injury team, authorities said. 

The defendant had a medical problem, which was not specified, and was hospitalized until November 16.

When she was released, she was detained in the Santa Clara jail.
