Weather Germany: DWD speaks of frost and black ice - only individual regions can look forward to snow

The meteorological winter is just around the corner, but only a few regions are currently enjoying snow.

Frost and black ice must also be expected in isolated cases.

Wiesbaden – The weather doesn't really look wintry at the moment, but numerous regions had a first taste of it last week.

Numerous districts were already able to look forward to the first snow.

However, the winter weather is currently taking a break, but temperatures are likely to drop significantly again next week.

Weather in Germany: Only a few regions can look forward to snow

Frost in some areas is to be expected as early as Thursday, November 24, 2022.

The German Weather Service speaks of regional frost in the east and south-east in the morning.

In the night to Friday in the middle only isolated frost, south of the Danube temperatures down to minus 4 degrees are expected.

There is a threat of precipitation from the west, above 1000 meters in the Alps and in the higher Bavarian Forest even snow.

Between a centimeter and five centimeters can come from the sky here, in high-lying areas of the Alps even up to 10cm.

In the east, even black ice must be expected on Thursday, on the night of Friday “in the south and the center isolated low levels of ice due to frost or freezing foggy wetness”.

This is how the DWD describes it in Thursday's report.

Accordingly, fog and visibility below 150 meters must be expected in some areas, also in the east.

Snow paralyzes many parts of Sweden - Italy fears floods

While Germany can still look forward to relatively normal November temperatures, snow paralyzes many parts of Sweden.

The Swedish weather service even speaks of "snow cannons".

And in Italy, too, the weather is currently being observed particularly closely.

Due to a storm, flooding threatens Venice.

The lagoon city had to activate its flood protection.
