The Hotel Holl in Schongau as accommodation for asylum seekers?

Nico Osenstätter confirms his interest in buying the property, but it is still unclear whether the project is feasible.

Schongau sees a citizens' initiative that is vehemently fighting against the size of Osenstätter's asylum accommodation in Peiting.

Schongau – The Schongau entrepreneur is currently under fire.

With his company "Friends Living Verwaltungs GmbH", Nico Osenstätter is already the builder of asylum accommodation for a maximum of 144 people in Peiting - and is getting quite a strong push from the Peitinger citizens' initiative (BI) "Practice integration - avoid focal point".

The BI wants significantly fewer refugees to be accommodated in the residential area than planned.

Accusation of the citizens' initiative: Nico Osenstätter not ready to talk

The accusation towards the builder from Schongau: He was not willing to talk.

The people from Peiting have now identified the reason: "The investor is apparently busy with a new asylum project." Osenstätter is planning another asylum accommodation in the Hotel Holl in Schongau, which is for sale - for around 90 people.

“The investor has so far always presented himself as a helper in need.

However, it increasingly seems as if the accommodation of asylum seekers is a lucrative business,” say Florian Kaiser and Sven Schramm in a press release.

Downsize the Peitinger accommodation, but accommodate refugees in Schongau?

The citizens' initiative suggests using the opportunity in Schongau to create a reasonable solution in Peiting.

"If only half as many people are accommodated in Peitinger Seestraße and the other half in Schongau, then that creates a socially acceptable environment around both locations in which integration can be more successful," says Kaiser.

However, an investor would have to forego income that would be higher if occupancy increased.

"We are curious to see whether Mr. Osenstätter and the district office are open to this," adds Schramm.

"It's actually a win-win situation."

Osenstätter confirms that he is considering buying the hotel

In an interview with the SN, the entrepreneur confirmed that he was interested in acquiring the Schongau hotel, but there were still many unanswered questions - for example, how many people could be accommodated at Hollberg at all.

"But I would not be averse to helping," he draws attention to the tense situation that accommodation for refugees is urgently needed.

If he has his way, everything can be wrapped up contractually as quickly as possible.

"The faster the better."

Osenstätter defends himself against allegations by the Peiting citizens' initiative

But what Osenstätter also makes clear: It is about providing additional space for Schongau, not about reducing the size of the refugee accommodation in Peiting.

He would also want to get involved privately as an investor and not with the same company as in Peiting.

He vehemently resists statements by the BI that he would earn money from the occupancy.

How many refugees would be accommodated was not his decision, but that of the government or the district office.

"I'm just the client, I'm making the property available with development and leasing it for 20 years." Incidentally, he was always ready for solution-oriented discussions, but so far he's only been attacked.

The district office also confirms talks, but it is not yet possible to estimate whether accommodation is feasible

The Weilheim-Schongau district office confirms that talks have been held regarding the Hotel Holl.

"However, it is currently not possible to assess whether it is actually feasible," said a spokesman.

That there could be space for 90 people, this number is unrealistic.

The immigration rates to Germany would make it necessary to provide sufficient housing for asylum seekers and Ukrainian war refugees.

Each rental property is an individual case and should be viewed in relation to the accommodations in each municipality.

The accommodation in Peiting is not dependent on this.

The city of Schongau has not been informed at all so far

So far, nothing is known about the city of Schongau: "I'm hearing about these plans for the first time," says Deputy Mayor Daniela Puzzovio.

Space for refugees is certainly very important, but the loss of the hotel is extremely negative for Schongau's tourism.

BI Peiting has already launched a citizens' application.

The market town council will deal with it again in detail on December 6th.

In September, the Peiting Municipal Council approved the project by a majority.
