The city of Germering has once again shown its flag in the fight against violence against women.
Germering - On Friday morning, action flags were hoisted in front of the town hall, on which the demand "Living freely - without violence" is printed in several languages.
Numerous city councilors and district councilor Gabriele Off-Nesselhauf were also present.
The SPD city councilor Fereshteh Ershadie-Zimmermann, who comes from Iran, drew attention to the current situation in her home country with a poster.
In a short speech, Deputy Mayor Manuela Kreuzmair recalled that Germering had been involved in the campaign for the International Day against Violence against Women for 20 years.
This is a sign of a life without violence.
It is frightening that girls and women in particular are still affected by violence on a large scale.
This is happening everywhere, not just in big cities, but also in Germering.
She is all the more pleased that the new women's shelter, just a hundred meters away, was inaugurated just half an hour after the flag campaign.
