The 10-euro doner kebab from Frankfurt is dividing opinions online.

Meanwhile, business at Ton Bul Grill and Kebap House seems to be booming despite the price increase.

Frankfurt - "It's not about the money, it's about survival." That was what Ugor Yumusakbas, owner of the Ton Bul Grill and Kebap House in Frankfurt, said a few days ago.

Due to rising food and energy prices, the popular eatery in the old town has raised the price of its doner kebab to 10 euros.

Fnp.de was the first to report on the restaurant.

“The framework conditions on the meat and raw materials market have worsened significantly in recent years.

So that we can continue to bake delicious doner kebabs and products fresh from the oven for our customers, we are adjusting our prices,” the kebap house wrote on a notice in front of the shop door and on its Facebook page.

The quality has to be right, explained owner Yumusakbas when asked.

"If you want to stay in business, you have to offer poor quality or increase the prices." Only by increasing the price can you cover the increased costs in this "crazy time".

And the focus on quality has seemed to pay off for Ton Bul in the past.

In a survey on Facebook, the readers of fnp.de voted the restaurant third among the best kebab shops in Frankfurt.

When asked, an employee said on Wednesday (November 16) that the restaurant was doing well even after the price increase.

10-euro doner kebab in Frankfurt: "Better than any I've eaten before"

Due to the massive price increase, however, the demands on the kebap house are apparently also increasing.

On the "TripAdvisor" rating platform, bad reviews under Ton Bul's profile have increased in recent days, where previously there were almost exclusively good ratings.

"A doner kebab for 10 euros!?

[...] People, don't let the money get out of your pockets, the doner kebab isn't worth a single mark," writes one user.

Another says: "Pure rip-off".

In many comments, the criticism seems to mix with the disappointment of former, satisfied customers: "The store was already full before the price increase and was doing well.

[...] The bread is no longer freshly baked, but is handed out in a warm box.

That was my last visit!" Another user commented appropriately: "No question, the kebab is awesome!

Better than any I've eaten before.

Still, 10 euros for a doner kebab is more than inappropriate.

7 euros was above average, but 10 euros is really outrageous!”

Frankfurt: Criticism and praise for the 10-euro kebab

But many comments also support the course of Yumusakbas and his team.

He thinks the concept of keeping the quality high and charging 10 euros for it is fair and right, writes an apparently loyal guest, for example.

"Everyone else who is bothered by this should eat bread at home," he said against the many critics.

“Fresh ingredients, fresh bread and lots of sauces to choose from.

The staff are very warm and friendly.

Tastes unusually good, can only be recommended!”, says another letter.

Apparently there is also a real gourmet in the comments: "The taste of the meat stands out, but it doesn't stand out too much, the bread is crispy and soft and the lemon and rocket give it a delicious freshness!" he writes almost poetically.

So there is both criticism and praise for the 10-euro doner kebab at the Ton Bul Grill and Kebap House in Frankfurt.

The criticism on "TripAdvisor" is not only aimed at the price of the flatbread, but also at more specific points: "Unfortunately, it was very unwieldy and that made it a little frustrating, but otherwise a very good kebab," says one customer, describing his ambivalent opinion.
