After a break of 12 years, the first Russian civilian passenger plane arrived today at Latakia International Airport, with the efforts and support of the Russian Trade Representative, and in cooperation with the Syrian Ministry of Transport.
The director of the airport, Eng. Ziyad Tawil, told SANA reporter that the Russian civil airline “Cosmos” launched a flight from Makhochkala Airport, the capital of the Russian Republic of Dagestan, to Syria, and this flight will be on a weekly basis.
Engineer Tawil pointed out the importance of this flight, which indicates stability and the return of work in air traffic, and the readiness of Lattakia Airport and its willingness to receive all civil flights, pointing out that this flight is an invitation to other airlines that wish to carry out their flights through Syrian airports.
