After the fire at the Kinderland day-care center in Holzkirchen, management and the municipality were faced with the mammoth task of setting up alternative care for 170 children.

Most of them could now return to their day care center on Monday.

Holzkirchen – Since the devastating fire in the Kinderland daycare center (we reported), seven groups have been looked after at other Kinderland GmbH locations or in the midday care of the Holzkirchner middle school.

When the affected children can return to their original rooms was the subject of a parents' evening on Wednesday.

Kinderland Managing Director Petra Götzenberger and Mayor Christoph Schmid (CSU) invited the parents to the information event to inform them about the next steps and to involve them in the decisions.

About 40 families accepted the invitation, as Götzenberger said when asked.

Despite the stressful situation for everyone involved, the atmosphere at the parents' evening was constructive: "The parents thanked us for being able to offer alternative care so quickly and for informing them so early on," reported Götzenberger.

Depending on the group, the parents now have different childcare alternatives.

Three groups could return to their group rooms on Erich-Kästner-Straße on Monday.

However, this requires the explicit consent of the parents, since official approval by the authorities cannot yet be given.

As reported, another sample must be taken beforehand to ensure that no toxic residues are left.

The rehearsal is scheduled for December 5th.

However, Götzenberger assumes that the rooms are free of pollutants, since the tests that have already been carried out were unremarkable.

Alternatively, these three groups could be cared for again in their rooms from December 5th, when the official release and expert opinion is available.

The salamander group, on the other hand, whose room was completely destroyed by the flames, would have to be looked after together with another group in the canteen, movement and counter room if they returned on Monday.

Eventually, her space needs to be rebuilt, and that takes time.

As of December 5th, the salamanders at the Holzkirchen site would still not have their own group room.

Alternatively, the salamanders could stay in the children's area in Bad Tölz until the Christmas holidays.

Although this would still mean a longer journey for many parents, it would have educational advantages.

For example, a stable environment in which the children could experience Advent in peace.

Not least because the local conditions are ideal.

A separate group room, child-friendly toilets and a relaxation room are available, among other things.

The same conditions apply to the rabbit group as to the salamanders.

The parents decide which of the available childcare options will now be implemented according to the majority principle.

"We have developed an online tool for this that parents can use to vote," explained Götzenberger.

Voting ends this Friday at 10 a.m.

This does not affect the two after-school care groups that are accommodated in the midday care of the Holzkirchner middle school.

They stay there until the drying work in their group rooms on Erich-Kästner-Strasse is completed.
