Airport action: LKA determined against six climate activists

After the disruptive action at the capital's BER airport, the Brandenburg State Criminal Police Office (LKA) took over the investigation.

Police spokesman Mario Heinemann said on Friday that six climate activists were investigating dangerous interference in air traffic, disruption of public services, trespassing and property damage.

Berlin - Five men and one woman between the ages of 20 and 32 were arrested and taken into custody on Thursday during the action at the airport in Schönefeld.

One of the men is still there by court order, the spokesman said.

According to him, the other suspects have been released.

Members of the "Last Generation" protest group paralyzed operations at BER on Thursday afternoon.

They had managed to snap through a security fence and get onto the airport grounds.

In the area of ​​​​the runway, four participants in the action would have stuck, the police said.

Operations on runways have been stopped in the meantime.

According to the airport, five starts had to be cancelled.

15 planned landings were therefore diverted to Leipzig and Dresden.
