Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced his opposition to France's participation in the peace process between his country and Armenia, considering that French President Emmanuel Macron is biased towards the other side.
Aliyev said at an international conference in Baku today: “Less than a week after the meeting in Prague, the French president accused us in a press interview of things we did not do, and this was followed by a decision by the French Senate, which is totally unacceptable.”
Aliyev added, “There was another anti-Azerbaijan resolution issued by the French National Assembly and then an attempt by Paris to attack us through the summit of the International Francophone Organization. In light of all this, it is clear that France cannot participate in the peace process.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with Aliyev, during a phone call on the 22nd of this month, the progress of the implementation of the settlement agreements in the disputed Karabakh region between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which were reached during the past two years with Russian mediation.
