Amazon in Leipzig: Employee dies during his shift – dealer only shields the body

Shocking news from the Leipzig Amazon location has now become public.
An employee there is said to have died in August 2022 – but there was apparently no work stoppage for other employees.
Leipzig – A death occurred at the Leipzig location of the mail order company Amazon on August 15 this year.
Although the employee died of health problems, there was no accident at work.
Nevertheless, the body of a colleague was suddenly found in the building.
However, the employees should continue to do their work despite the incident.

platform is said to have happened in the early afternoon of the day in question.

, doctors, police officers and undertakers were on site.
As Amazon is said to have communicated at the request of the broadcaster

, the place where the body lay was "shielded from higher shelves, conveyor technology and a wall of views anyway".
Furthermore, "further visual barriers were created in no time at all" and "workstations were locked" to shield the employees from what had happened.
As a result, however, work continued at the Leipzig location.
An employee reported to

that Amazon apparently saw no reason in the colleague's death to stop operations early on August 15.
This decision is difficult for the employees to understand.
"If I had been in her place," one employee is quoted as saying, "I would have stopped working in shifts immediately." The working conditions at Amazon have been criticized time and time again;
Ver.di is currently calling for a strike.

Employees criticize Amazon's decision
According to Stern
, Amazon itself has
already commented on the incidents and admitted that in its own estimation the handling of the situation in the "short response time" was "unfortunately not optimal".
For example, some employees who had just arrived for work were not transferred to another area in time.
"We would have done it differently in hindsight," says the shipping giant, which plans to cut various jobs in 2023.
However, "psychological staff" were made available to give the employees the opportunity to process their impressions.
Furthermore, according to Amazon employees, “this and the following shifts were free” to leave the workplace without loss of wages that afternoon.
