With a high-quality and lavishly designed volume of pictures and stories about Bad Wiessee, the anniversary year, in which 100 years of the Bad designation was celebrated, comes to an impressive end.

Bad Wiessee -

Mayor Robert Kühn, archivist and author Isabel Miecke-Meyer, managing director Hilmar Danzinger and photographer and graphic artist Matthias Robl proudly presented the 200-page joint work "Bad Wiessee 100" in the meeting room of the town hall.

"We didn't want to publish a simple chronicle, but to tell stories from and about Bad Wiessee.

And we want the people of Wiesse to tell each other their own stories and experiences through the book," said Mayor Kühn.

He is convinced that the selection and the mixture of longer, more in-depth reports, shorter commentary captions and portraits with quotes, why Bad Wiessee is so valuable to the person photographed, encourage exchange.

Grandmas and grandpas, mothers and fathers would definitely have something to say about it.

Historical personalities illuminated

In addition to historical personalities such as Johann and Rosa Steinberger, ski legend Sepp Gantner, architect Herrmann Lang, pastor Johann Nepomuk Gansler or composer Franz Grothe, 14 faces of Bad Wiessee are represented, who characterize the town today.

For example, nanny Uschi Fischbacher, boat rental company Josef Grieblinger, farmer Elisabeth Erlacher and club spokesman Wolfgang Schäffler.

"They all show how diverse our place is and always has been," says Kühn.

By the way, there is no picture of him in the volume.

Because the community and thus he as mayor is the publisher of the picture and history volume.

At least Kühn wrote the foreword.

Exceptional design

The fact that a community publishes such a book is no less extraordinary than the aesthetic design.

It is printed on fine Gmund paper, elegant gray with a black stamped, shiny Bad Wiessee coat of arms, and the unusual format is reminiscent of a chic notebook from afar - if the magenta-colored insert tape weren't peeking out.

It takes that so you know where you stopped reading.

Because "Bad Wiessee 100" has neither page numbers nor chapters.

The thematic double pages are also not arranged chronologically.

The book simply invites you to read and stroll through the place and time, to be inspired and to come to an attitude towards your hometown.

Surprising discoveries

"With the project, we also brought our archive into shape and sorted it," explains Managing Director Danzinger.

There were some discoveries that were surprising.

As a result, you will find many previously unknown historical photographs in “Bad Wiessee 100”.

But the idea is now also being considered of setting up an image database for Bad Wiessee so that historians, authors, journalists and those interested in Wiessee can download photographs.

They are to be supplemented by the photos that the "house and yard photographer" Matthias Robl has shot for the community in the past two years.

Only 250 copies available

The work is a Bad Wiesseer product through and through: by Wiesseers for Wiesseers - and of course suitable as a valuable Christmas present.

It costs 68 euros and is only available from the Ilmberger bookstore, the tourist information office and the residents' registration office in the town hall.

The only catch: "Bad Wiessee 100" is limited to 250 (numbered) copies.

So those who are interested should hurry up.
