At the end of her shift, the paramedic was greeted at her home by police officers who told her that Montana, her 17-year-old daughter, had been the victim of an accident.

Jayme immediately understood that it was the victim of his own intervention.

The police added that given the teenager's injuries, she was finally unplugged.

The badly injured patient I had just treated was my own flesh and blood.
