Mixed TV comeback: "Wetten, dass ..?" returns to television – and fans are disappointed
In the more than four decades since it was first broadcast, the iconic ZDF show has undergone a number of changes.
At the beginning, Frank Elstner (80) was in front of the camera as moderator, who was then replaced in 1987 by Thomas Gottschalk.
With the joking, curly-haired blond at the wheel, "Wetten, dass..?" became a real sensational success.
After he put down the microphone in 2011 and Markus Lanz (53) slipped into the role of host, 10 years passed until the next Gottschalk show.

After the great success of the anniversary show, which proved to be a real ratings hit in 2021, Thomas Gottschalk again invited first-class celebrities and a roaring audience to his studio in Friedrichshafen on November 19, 2022.
Despite the strong figures, the TV comeback was rather mixed among the viewers - there was criticism for questionable sayings from Gottschalk and many also noticed that the otherwise sovereign entertainer seemed to lisp throughout the show.
The craziest bets on "Wetten, dass..?"
Ever since the first episode of "Wetten, dass..?" flickered across screens on February 14, 1981, the TV studio has been the scene of some bizarre and startling bets.

In 1997, Nico Haddad managed to put out a burning hut with just a blow out and five liters of water.
In 2007 Gerhard Donie managed to place 20 plungers by throwing them on the backs of 10 men.
In the latest episode of the audience's favourite, many exciting betting projects are likely to be at the start again.
