Kanye West and Donald Trump are having an argument on social networks.
The background is a dinner that is said to have taken place on Tuesday at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in the US state of Florida.
According to West, right-wing extremist nationalist Nick Fuentes also took part.
Trump has now responded to reports: West, who now calls himself Ye, called him about dinner, the ex-president wrote on Friday on the Truth Social platform he co-founded.
"Shortly afterwards he showed up unexpectedly with three of his friends I didn't know about." The meal was then "quick and uneventful" in the presence of many others.
West previously posted a video on Twitter claiming Trump was "impressed" by Fuentes.
"I think what worried Trump the most was when I asked him to be my vice president," the rapper says.
Trump yelled at him and predicted defeat.
"I said: wait a minute, Trump, you're talking to Ye," West continues.
The musician had already competed in the presidential election in 2020, but received fewer than 70,000 votes.
Trump recently announced his re-election for the 2024 presidential election.
The ex-president's office has not responded to inquiries about the rapper's comments.
West said two days ago that he was visiting Trump at his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
So far it is unclear whether West is seriously aiming for a candidacy or is just looking for public attention.
The musician had recently caused outrage, especially with controversial actions and anti-Semitic statements.
The sporting goods manufacturer Adidas then terminated its cooperation with him.
