Europol: Arrest of 44 people belonging to one of the largest criminal networks in the European Union

Europol and Eurojust for Judicial Cooperation today announced the arrest of 44 people belonging to one of the largest criminal networks in the European Union during an international operation involving the authorities of 11 countries.

"During the joint operation, about 100 searches and raids were carried out across Europe targeting the heads of these criminal organizations and their accomplices who were working together to carry out multiple criminal activities on a large scale inside and outside the European Union, including: Drug smuggling and money laundering,” confirming that large quantities of cocaine, hashish, cannabis and methamphetamine were seized.

The statement added: The network, which is also believed to have been linked to major drug trafficking organizations outside the European Union, is active in Lithuania, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Poland, France, Germany and Slovakia, noting that cooperation between countries and the two European agencies made it possible to adopt
