It was his priority strategy, but everything has changed since the breakdown of the agreement of the Council of the Judiciary.

Alberto Núñez Feijóo has parked the economy to focus on two issues that have burst into and monopolize the political agenda: the reform of sedition and the reduction of sentences for some sexual offenders for the application of the

law of only yes is yes

.

The leader of the PP is going to situate the axis of his strategy in these two issues, according to sources from the popular leadership, at least until the end of the year.

Feijóo plans to star in a minimum of seven rallies focused on these issues throughout Spain, between now and Christmas, while he relegates the economic discourse.

The popular ones go out to compete in ideological matters with Vox so as not to allow them to claim that flag alone, while the ultras agitate their bases with the macho attack on the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, on which Feijóo has not ruled.

Feijóo's decision to park the economic discourse coincides with an improvement in some indicators of the Spanish economy that are giving families a bit of a breather, although the situation continues to be very complex.

On the one hand, inflation, which in October fell to 7.3%, 1.6 points lower than that of the previous month, the second best data in the euro zone.

On the other, the price of electricity, which on Wednesday was at 86.86 euros per megawatt hour, although it rose this Thursday to 152.14 euros per megawatt hour.

Although still high, it is quite a distance from the European countries around Spain, which exceed 200 and 300 euros, in the case of Italy, per megawatt hour.

Despite the increase, the price of electricity for Thursday is approximately

33% cheaper than a year ago.

“The economic apocalypse that we were advancing on has not arrived”, sums up a PP deputy, “and focusing only on lowering taxes is not coveting”.

The PP, which described a devastating economic situation, now stops placing the economy as a priority in its speech.

From now until the end of the year, in the PP they see that there will only be media space for "sedition, embezzlement,

yes is yes

, soccer [for the World Cup] and Christmas," a leader specifies.

In the face to face with Sánchez, this Tuesday in the Senate, Feijóo already avoided the economic debate.

The popular ones maintain that their tactical turn has to do with the events that have occurred, such as the Government's decision to reform the crime of sedition and, above all, the undesired effect of the

law of

only yes is yes,

but the truth is also that the turnaround coincides with the pressure that Feijóo is receiving to harden his opposition strategy, which the PP hawks and the media right see as too soft.

In Genoa they have taken note and Feijóo and his main squires have raised their tone against the Government.

The PP leader's tour of rallies, with a special presence in the territories where the popular ones aspire to seize power from the PSOE, will focus on these two more ideological and more complex issues to manage for the PP.

It is, above all, the Catalan issue, because the leadership knows that in this debate its competitors on the right -Vox and Ciudadanos- are taking a breath because they have even tougher positions than the PP.

Upon returning from the Christmas holidays, Feijóo should resume the economy, according to management sources, because that has always been his main strategic axis against the Government.

Feijóo began the first of those rallies of the tour this Thursday in Badajoz (Extremadura), where he accused the Government of "getting on its knees before Bildu", "fracturing Spain" and "weakening the nation" for its agreements for the General Budgets, before to charge against the Executive by the

law of only yes is yes

.

"Today Spain is a more insecure and less free country for Spanish women," complained the leader of the PP, who asked Sánchez to "restore the dignity of women, to whom it has been withdrawn" due to the unwanted defects of the rule.

The popular believe that the greatest wear on the Government is produced by the unwanted consequences of the

law of only yes is yes,

because sedition is a complex concept that does not reach the majority and the Catalan conflict no longer stirs passions.

In his speech in Badajoz, the popular leader ignored Vox's macho attack on Minister Montero, although the general secretary, Cuca Gamarra, had condemned it this Wednesday.

The PP confronts with discomfort the "mistakes" of the ultras, as recognized in the leadership, while its main barons have dissenting positions.

The Andalusian president, the moderate Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla, lamented the scenes of "radicality" and "insults" in the Congress of Deputies, while the PP of Isabel Díaz Ayuso released a video that charged against Montero for statements by Pablo Iglesias in the past against Ana Botella.

Feijóo and Ayuso, hand in hand

The most important act of the tour will take place on Saturday in Madrid, with Feijóo and Isabel Díaz Ayuso hand in hand.

The PP hopes to gather some 2,000 people in a rally that will compete in media space over the weekend with the demonstration that Vox has called in Madrid's Plaza de Colón, a symbol for the right because it was the enclave in which it was held for the first time. visualized in 2019 the block formed by PP, Vox and Ciudadanos, who attended that first protest against the Government together.

Genoa believes that this time Vox is not going to get a massive turnout, because "it is down" and has lost its "mobilization muscle."

But just in case, Feijóo relies on Ayuso on Saturday to project himself along with his harsh and hyperbole-laden speech against the Government for her concessions to the independentistas.
