On Friday, it was party time at kyiv station.
All eyes were on the electronic board at the entrance to Platform 1, which displayed a long-awaited destination: Train 102, kyiv-Kherson, leaving at 10:14 p.m.
A few tens of minutes before the departure of the train, Oleksandr Kamyshin, the director of the Ukrainian railway company, appeared on a small stage set up for the occasion, dressed in the uniform of railway agents.
Then the legendary Ukrainian rock band Vopli Vidopliassova succeeded him.
The choice of this group is no accident.
“
Kherson, my hometown, you are the most beautiful
”, sings its leader Oleg Skrypka in their old song “
Bouly Denki
”.
Next to the stage, a display board indicates the train schedules that many Ukrainians hope to see leave one day, those going to cities that are still busy: Mariupol, Donetsk, Luhansk, Simferopol...
