A supermarket employee discovered a large spider in a box of organic bananas.

The fire department arrived.

The animal has now been examined.

Wertingen –

The colleagues from the fire brigade in Wertingen (district of Dillingen an der Donau) will probably not soon forget the operation.

On Saturday (November 19) a supermarket employee discovered a giant spider while unpacking bananas.

The animal was inside the foil packaging of the organic bananas.

The woman reacted immediately, locked the box again and alerted the police.

Fire brigade brings animal to reptile farm

The emergency services brought the spider and the box to the reptile farm in Bobingen.

There she was lifted out and placed in a plastic box.

She will now get a new home, as the fire brigade announced on Facebook.

"There was no danger to consumers." The emergency services and the manager of the reptile farm, Andreas Bandorf, initially assumed a poisonous banana spider.

Two days after the mission, Bandorf examined the giant spider under a microscope, as reported by the

.

Now it is clear: the animal is a giant crab spider.

Compared to the banana spider, it is largely harmless to humans.

"She looks quite good.

Because she came with organic bananas, she probably didn't get any poison," Bondorf told the newspaper.

She gets a place in a terrarium, maybe he even hangs artificial bananas in it.

Such spiders are given to him about twice a year.

Users on Facebook are disgusted by the giant spider: "Whoa scary.

Would have moved away immediately"

The photos of the fire brigade triggered mixed reactions from users on Facebook.

"Boa creepy.

Would have moved away immediately," commented one woman on the post.

"Oh Jessas" and "Pfui" can also be read.

Another user notes that you can at least tell that they are organic bananas.

A similar case occurred in the Schweinfurt district just a week earlier.

A spider's web was found on bananas in a Rewe supermarket, and the fire brigade evacuated the store.

In Miesbach, too, a spider in a banana box turned out to be not the poisonous specimen from South America, but a normal house spider.
