This year, donated Christmas parcels will be brought to old people's homes in the district - such as here in the Kursana Domizil in Au last year - to sweeten the festivities for older, single people.

This year, an initiative in the Hallertau is again collecting Christmas parcels for senior citizens.

There are two more communities this year.

Northern district of Freising

– Seniors in the Hallertau will also be happy about a Christmas package this year.

Because the idea spontaneously developed by Vincent Zeitler in 2018 is going into the fifth round after the great successes of the past few years - and in addition to Mauern and Au, Nandlstadt and Rudelzhausen are now also new in the Hallertau.

The relief campaign is intended to make the Christmas season a little nicer for needy seniors and those who are alone and have no one left.

That is particularly important this year.

Because: With the Ukraine crisis and the associated price increases, it is becoming increasingly difficult for many to provide for themselves and their loved ones with their pension, Zeitler knows.

And in the third winter, Corona causes illness, impoverishment, existential fears and, especially among the older population, social distancing.

Parcels are brought to the retirement homes

The successful concept remains: "#from the home for the home, regional, local".

The aim is to bring the parcels to the district's retirement homes and give those who live there a little something to celebrate.

But many older people in the district also live in their own four walls without any connection to social life.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

If you want to make an old person in the district of Freising happy with a Christmas package, bring your package to one of the drop-off points by Tuesday, December 13 at the latest.

You can pack all nice things, nothing perishable, durable things (coffee, tea, crackers, chocolate), but nothing that needs to be cooked/prepared before consumption, hygiene items, puzzle books, magazines or a nice book.

What should not be missing at Christmas time are cookies, gingerbread or jam.

Absolute highlights of the last few years have been self-written Christmas cards, a cuddly toy or other personal gifts and handicrafts by children and adults.

Please mark the packages as to whether they are put together for a woman, a man or neutral.

The delivery points in the Hallertau:

  • Hörl beverage store, Am Wurzelgraben 6, Walls

  • Free gas station Heigl, Freisinger Strasse 20, Au

  • Nandlstadt town hall, Rathausplatz 1

  • Rudelzhausen town hall, church square 10
