For the third day, in a number of cultural centers in As-Suwayda Governorate, the festive activities of the Syrian Culture Days continued, by holding lectures, evenings, and traditional and artistic concerts.
During a lecture at the Palace of Culture in the city of As-Suwayda within the activities of the Eighth Intangible Folklore Festival, entitled A Journey into the Syrian Intangible Heritage, Dr. Thaer Zain El-Din spoke about the nature of the intangible cultural heritage and its components, and how Syria was a pioneer in implementing the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage adopted by UNESCO in 2003, in response He is exposed to the threats imposed by the processes of globalization, and the accompanying unprecedented social transformations.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Culture, since 2003, has formed specialized committees in the governorates that included the best researchers, and has taken measures aimed at ensuring the sustainability of the Syrian intangible cultural heritage, identifying and documenting it, conducting research on it, preserving it, protecting it, promoting it, and highlighting it.
Zain El-Din pointed out that our cultural heritage does not end with monuments, architectural monuments and various works of art, but also includes customs, traditions and living expressions inherited from parents and grandparents that we will pass on to our children and grandchildren such as oral traditions, various performance arts, social practices, rituals, celebrations, knowledge and practices related to nature and the universe. and the skills of traditional artefacts, which are a very important component of our cultural heritage, which comes alive and is constantly recreated.
The band of the Al-Adiyat Folklore Association concluded the activities of the Intangible Heritage Festival, which was organized by the Directorate of Culture over a period of three days, with a traditional artistic evening on the stage of the Palace of Culture, during which it presented a bouquet of folk arts in a folkloric manner derived from the spirit of heritage.
The Arab Cultural Center in the city of Salkhad hosted a traditional evening, which was revived by the poets Acer Al-Saadi, Nashat Narsh, Hindi Al-Shamaa, Samir Al-Shamaa, and Adnan Bali, each of whom presented a number of poems, which dealt with national and social issues.
At the Arab Cultural Center in the city of Shahba, the Friends Band, under the supervision of director Rifaat Al-Hadi, presented a show-dancing party with the participation of 14 young men and women, entitled (The Martyr).
