An animal welfare association can also do valuable work without a sanctuary or animal shelter.

What it consists of, that's what the general meeting was about.

Unterschleißheim

– The former reception station in Unterschleißheim, the so-called Agneshaus, has been closed for a year and a half.

Since then, a lot has revolved around the question: What does an animal welfare association that does not operate its own sanctuary or animal shelter actually do?

Information was also provided at the annual general meeting in the park restaurant in Unterschleißheim under the agenda item "Debate".

Much of the work that is being done on an ongoing basis is little known to the general public.

For years, the association has looked after stray cats at feeding stations, it takes care of their veterinary treatment and, if necessary, castration.

"To do this, the animals first have to be caught, and that can take a while," informs Chairman Hermann Meyer in a press release: "We regularly receive food donations from the population via our food donation boxes in Kaufland and Rewe, so we also support animal owners from Ukraine .”

Guided tour of the Munich-Riem animal shelter

Needy fellow citizens will soon receive food for their animals at the table organized by Caritas in Unterschleißheim and Oberschleißheim.

The association regularly provides information on topics relevant to animal welfare via showcases at the pond and in the district street as well as via the website.

The association recently organized a tour of the animal shelter in Munich-Riem for members.

"We are currently providing information about hedgehogs and what you can do," reports Hermann Meyer.

Animal Welfare Info Telephone

The animal welfare information hotline also keeps those active on their toes: search and find reports – escaped cats, birds that have flown in – or calls about possible cases of animal distress.

"It's best to get everything sorted out right away.

It's always helpful if cats in particular have a readable chip," says veterinarian Hermann Meyer.

Secured animals are brought to the nearby Freising-Mintraching animal shelter, with which the city of Unterschleißheim has concluded an animal found agreement.

"Here they can wait for their owner in the best possible way." So there is a lot to do even if you don't have your own space.

"We'll take care of it and look forward to any support," emphasizes the first chairman.

to fill new positions

After the reports of the three chairmen, the treasurer and the auditors, the board was unanimously discharged by the assembly.

Due to a resignation, the board position of secretary had to be filled this time.

The assembly elected Elisabeth Koch, who had previously been an active member of the association's board.

The posts of the two auditors also had to be filled.

Caroline Schwarz and Angelika Hebestedt were suggested.

All candidates were elected unanimously.
