Louis Vuitton Horlogerie has just announced the creation of a prize dedicated to audacity and watchmaking independence, the
“Louis Vuitton Watch Prize for Independent Creatives”.
A prize that
"pays tribute to all those who brave the present and defy the boundaries of time",
explains the house.
The aim of this new prize:
“to honor the creativity, know-how and audacity of the independent watch industry, to support and encourage entrepreneurs, and to accompany future generations.”
“Watchmaking is not a dormant industry;
it is not inaccessible,
explained the initiator of this prize, Jean Arnault, director of the watchmaking division of Louis Vuitton, in a press release.
Young watch enthusiasts are a generation of enthusiasts eagerly awaiting innovations on the market.
This is why we want to create this event at the heart of La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton”.
This Prize is open to everyone, watchmakers, designers, entrepreneurs, young graduates or creative people from all over the world.
A committee of industry experts, passionate about watchmaking innovation and creativity, will be in charge of studying the applications beforehand.
This panel will be made up of specialized journalists, experts, artisans, artists and collectors.
Candidates will be able to register online on the Prize's dedicated website and submit their creative projects from the beginning of next year, and until May 2023. And then?
In September 2023, a commission of international and independent experts will shortlist twenty semi-finalists.
In December 2023, the panel of experts will narrow down the list to five finalists based on the following criteria: Design, Creativity, Innovation, Craftsmanship and Technical Complexity.
The experts will then nominate five members of the Jury from among their number for the final of the Prize.
In January 2024, the five finalists of the
“Louis Vuitton Prize for Independent Creatives”
will be auditioned by the Jury in Paris.
Finally, the winner will be revealed during an award ceremony organized by Louis Vuitton.

will receive a financial reward and will benefit from a one-year mentorship within La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton.
This tailor-made support, adapted to the needs of the project, will be provided throughout this period.
A dedicated team will also bring its expertise to the winner in many areas: communication, copyright and legal aspects, marketing, industrial strategy and financial management of a brand.
