Matthias Malmedie was injured in the face while shooting for Volkswagen.

The wound had to be sewn up in the hospital with five stitches.

Matthias Malmedie normally tests cars in his videos.

From an electric vintage car like the BMW 2000 to a fast sports car with a combustion engine, everything is there.

For once, the latest clip is not about cars, but the health of the grip moderator.

Because he was "seriously" injured while shooting for Volkswagen R on the Bilster Berg and had to be sewn up with five stitches because of a laceration.

"It's actually very, very funny.

Especially for you,” says Matthias Malmedie.

But what happened?

The Grip moderator set up a challenge with Benny Leuchter, which involved driving cars back and forth.

Both had two cars each and therefore had to change trains.

And that's exactly when Matthias Malmedie smashed the door in his face.

"It was really, really stupid of me to do it like that," says the Grip presenter in retrospect.

But the accident didn't stop him at first.

He finished the challenge covered in blood.

At the finish then the realization: "I think I need an ambulance."

The wound was treated there.

However, the paramedics didn't think it needed stitches.

Unlike a surgeon friend who advised Matthias Malmedie to go to the hospital.

However, Benny Leuchter took over the conversation because the moderator was no longer able to do so.

Matthias Malmedie injured in the face shooting: fans wish him a speedy recovery

Things happened very quickly in the hospital in Bad Driburg, because there was hardly anything going on.

If he hadn't driven there might have been a big scar.

"You're on TV, that wouldn't look so cool either," said one nurse.

An attempt to tape the wound failed, so the doctor decided to sew.

Despite the local anaesthetic, it hurt badly, says Mathias Malmedie, emphasizing: "I can't take pain that well!" So that the scar doesn't get too big, the doctor used a thread that was as fine as possible and cut it very short.

It was horrible for the family doctor who had to pull the stitches, but that seemed to amuse the doctor.

And the Grip moderator also took it with humor.

After all, he had survived a trip at over 400 km/h unharmed and now had to be stitched up because of a car door.

Above all, there was a recovery from his fans:

  • "I wish you a speedy recovery and thank you for showing us how this happened."

  • "We love you, with or without a scar."

  • "Get well soon, boy!

I have seldom celebrated and felt sorry at the same time.

Shit happens... it went well again!”

  • "I had to smile a little, but you mustn't forget that it could have been an eye-opener!

I hope you will feel better soon!"

  • "Get well soon, super sewn, always apply cream, then you won't see anything anymore."
