New seating options on the Bad Wiessee lake promenade

Bad Wiessee - The new wooden "Arbors" in Bad Wiessee invite walkers and visitors to the lake promenade to rest and linger.

"The arcades are slightly reminiscent of an oversized bus house, which is why we actually wanted to have the Oimara for the opening so that he would have a 'Busheisl party'," Robert Kühn, Mayor of Bad Wiessee, began his speech.

Despite the lack of musical accompaniment, the invited guests were delighted with the new building on the lake promenade.

Almost exactly a year ago, the municipal council in Bad Wiessee unanimously decided to demolish and replace the aging pergola on the promenade.

From the beginning it was clear that it should not be a simple functional building, but something completely new.

"Architecture must arouse emotions," explained Kühn, alluding to the initial skepticism about the construction company on the part of the municipal council and the citizens.

Nevertheless, a courageous step by the municipality, as the town hall announced when the first draft was available.

"For a hip future in Bad Wiessee," said Kühn with a smile at the inauguration.

The three architects, Markus Hölzl, Karolin Knote and Johannes Frischholz from the Tegernsee architectural office HKF, were commissioned to design the new building.

"The original design only had to be filed and optimized a little," said Hölzl proudly at the opening.

His colleague Knote confirmed: "The cooperation with the municipal council was a lot of fun."

From now on, the construction made of solid spruce wood is intended to present the community to a certain extent.

The open construction with the three pitched roofs gives walkers a view of the lake, and the many seating options invite you to linger.

"The arcades give Bad Wiessee more self-confidence," Kühn concluded, "they are well received, especially since many were rather suspicious at first, it's something completely different from what the citizens of Bad Wiessee are used to."
