Scientists from Russia's Don University have created a bioreactor that mimics the digestive system of animals.
The Russian agency, TASS, stated that the new innovation determines the effectiveness of the effect of pharmaceutical and food preparations and biologically active supplements on the environment and animals before they are used, and determines the extent of their impact on the body, especially the digestive system.
The scientists pointed out that the device is very safe and will reduce the financial and organizational burden on clinical trials that use animals.
The head of the bioreactor of the microdigestive system, Igor Popov, said: The innovative device opens up prospects for transferring the focus of experiments from living organisms to the field of modeling, which not only simplifies and reduces the cost of the research process, but also makes it ethical.
